So I’m rewatching 13 Reasons Why and apparently they took out majority of the suicide scene because quote “it romanticized suicide”.

Idk if that was like right or wrong, I just know that I personally appreciated the full scene. It was graphic, realistic and triggering but it was also one of my most favorite scenes from any TV shows.

And not in a sick way it wasn’t enjoyable obvi but it shows what is going through a person’s mind the minutes before they commit suicide and I think that’s important for people who both have and haven’t been through it. The way that the world is silenced, you feel like your already dead and nothing matters except the task ahead.

I would think that the portrayal of parents reaction as well would do the opposite of “romanticizing suicide” because when you are planning to commit suicide the last thing you are thinking of is the people that will find you and how it will hurt them. All I was thinking was I wanted it to be over and the only way to make the pain stop was to be gone. The pain took over every cell in body and I became like a robot with only one thought. So anyways I thought the show was so on point with that scene and it was kinda comforting in a way I guess to know what that person went through in the those minutes because before that I felt alone in what I experienced before my suicide attempt so I really wish they kept it in there.

Its already out there, I’ve seen it and its probably on youtube but I guess if they wanna take it out to protect kids I can’t say thats entirely bad…. but like also the entire show is about suicide sooo so I think the cats out of the bag

Maybe they should have kept the original available but only to 18+ or something, if kids are the problem? IDK. But anyways moral of the story the scene was important to me and I think it should still exist.
